It’s National Heritage Week so The Cheese Wheel is bringing you a pairing event with a difference: A Brie-f History of Time Wine and Cheese in 5 pairings from 43BC to 1955. Ever wondered how the Romans civilised the Brits with their wine culture? Or why medieval kings imported wine from Bordeaux? Or how our tastes changed and why we enjoyed fortified wines by the 19th Century. And why are French champagne houses buying up swathes of southern England in the 21st century? Spoiler alert - it’s the same reason why we stopped producing wine in the 300 years after 1066 and all that.
